First of all, thanks to everyone reading this for keeping our club alive. All owls everywhere appreciate the work you do and your commitment. We are all devastated that you’re suffering because of the mismanagement at our club.
The supporters would like to help in whatever way we can. For this purpose, a hardship grant has been created that will be administered and paid by the Supporters Trust. All money is from the fans to help you all during this tough time. Unfortunately, it is limited, so it cannot resolve all issues; however, it may help meet some of your bills and needs.
We will guarantee that no names will be shared with the club and all your confidential data will be treated with the utmost care. We will not share any information (other than to tax authorities if requested for our annual audit) on applicants or publicise who grants were distributed to. We will take no longer than 5 days to review and make a decision on applications with payment the same week as decision.
To qualify
- Be current full-time or part-time employees of Sheffield Wednesday FC.
- Have been affected by non-payment of wages during the 2025 crisis period.
- Be willing to self-certify financial hardship through a brief written statement.
Unfortunately, we don’t have a large enough fund staff whose main employment is not SWFC so matchday, seasonal, or casual workers are not eligible under this scheme.
Information you will need to supply.
- Attached form filled in.
- A brief personal statement describing financial circumstances and unpaid wages.
- Optional supporting documents (for example: photo of work pass, email from SWFC confirming non-payment of wages)
- No bank account information at this stage. Please only provide sensitive personal information such as a payslip or bank statement if you have no other evidence
The grant amount
- The normal grant is capped at £500, please let us know what you need up to this amount.
- If you require more for specific reasons, please let us know and we will be in touch to discuss. We are setting up a donation fund and maybe able to help further.
- We hope that this month will be last time the fund is needed but will review the situation and if it continues will try to find on going ways to help.
Benefits
- If you claim any benefits, please get advice on how it might affect those.
- We can offer the grant payment in supermarket vouchers rather than bank transfer, if requested, that should not affect your position.
Data Protection and Privacy
- The Trust will comply with the UK GDPR and data minimisation principles.
- Applicant data will be stored in a restricted access folder, viewable only by the Board.
- Sensitive financial or personal data will be deleted after a decision is made.
- All application records will be retained for no longer than 6 months, unless a legitimate reason arises.
