Turn Your Back on Chansiri Protest – Oxford United 12 April 2025 – 15:10pm
Sheffield Wednesday Supporters Trust is calling on all fans to join us in a protest against the club owner Dejphon Chansiri. We are angry about the recent lack of respect shown towards our players, coaches and club staff.
We condemn the appalling treatment of the players, coaches and club staff who were not paid last week and not even told that this was happening. This event is now well known on a national basis.
But perhaps even worse is the treatment of our under 21 players this week. According to the Sheffield Star the players ‘were all told to come in on Tuesday where they would be told what lies ahead for them, but were then informed at the 11th-hour that the meetings would instead take place the following day – because they hadn’t yet been signed off by chairman, Dejphon Chansiri’.
This mistreatment is awful, especially for young players trying to secure their futures. What message does this send to our current and prospective talents?
In response, we urge all supporters to turn their backs on the match for one minute during the 10th minute of this weekend's game against Oxford United and remain silent. This symbolic gesture will show our disdain for the owner's disrespect towards our players, staff, and fans.
We stand in solidarity with the players, coaches, and staff. Join us in this protest to demand the respect Sheffield Wednesday deserves.
