We, the board members of the Sheffield Wednesday Supporters' Trust (SWST), express profound sadness and deep shame that specific individuals, amidst our support at yesterday's home match, have resorted to the abhorrent act of racial abuse, as evidenced in the recorded videos. These actions, conducted by a few, are not representative of our Club, the Supporters, or the society we strive to be a part of.
Racism, in any form, is a direct affront to the values that football should uphold. It is not only a social ill but a blight on the spirit of football that we passionately celebrate. Such behaviour is antithetical to the essence of sportsmanship and the community painstakingly built over a century of shared experiences and collective support.
We stand together in our condemnation of these acts and in our resolve to not only address the current incident with the utmost seriousness but also to actively participate in the broader, ongoing battle against racism in all its manifestations.
We support the strongest possible measures by the Club and the Police against the individuals identified. There is no room for racism within football, and those found guilty should face the full consequences of their actions.
Together, we must ensure that the beautiful game symbolises hope, unity, and diversity.
