A Happy New Year from all the Trust Board to all our members and the wider Wednesday fanbase. We hope that 2026 will bring stability to our club and we hope for big improvements both on and off the pitch.

Whilst 2025 brought positive change in removing the root cause of many of Sheffield Wednesday's current problems, it’s clear that there is still a great deal of uncertainty relating to our future ownership.

As many of you will know, the club's administrators issued a statement stating their intent to confer preferred bidder status for one of the bidders. This is an important step, but as yet we do not have public confirmation of the preferred bidder or an understanding of timeline. We do not yet know the source of funding or people behind the purchase.

The final decisions regarding who eventually takes over will be made by the Administrator and the EFL. We completely understand and accept the administration process has many elements that are outside of fans’ control. We want to assure you, however, that the Trust will ensure that fans’ voices are heard where we can, and we are speaking to stakeholders in the process where this is appropriate. We have also been assessing publicly available information on groups and individuals who may be involved in our future ownership. We want to better understand who they are and why they want to own our club.

Sheffield Wednesday fans have every right to ask that this process delivers better governance, greater transparency and more respect for our fans. We have suffered ten damaging years under an ownership that resulted in sporting decline, financial instability and a stadium left to rust and rot.

We sincerely hope and expect that the process set out by the Administrator and the EFL, and with a close watch taken by the incoming Independent Football Regulator, will this time around, deliver new ownership worthy of our great club.

On a positive note, we are looking forward to hearing the new owner's vision for Sheffield Wednesday. One which matches our fans’ hopes for a successful club that we can all be proud of, on and off the pitch.

It's in everyone's interests that the integrity of the administration process is maintained. To that end any public comments by the Trust will be mindful of this requirement.

We thought we would end this message by restating the Trust’s vision for what a better Sheffield Wednesday looks like.
