A long-term plan on and off the pitch, honest and open consultation with supporters, and a stadium and training facilities to be proud of are among the basic requirements for anyone wishing to own Sheffield Wednesday, say the Owls’ biggest supporters group.

The Sheffield Wednesday Supporters Trust, which has over 3,000 members and democratically-elected leadership, has produced “A Better Wednesday,” its 10-page vision for a brighter future for the club, which it will launch at the Trust’s Fans Forum meeting on Wednesday evening.

The Trust is calling for any owner of the club to make clear commitments on a range of issues, including football and commercial strategy, leadership excellence, and a sustainable business model. “A Better Wednesday” lists ways in which each of these commitments should be able to be measured by supporters.

Trust Chairman, Ian Bennett, said: “We know things appear bleak for Sheffield Wednesday at the moment but we have a clear vision for what we want our club to look like in the future. None of the things we are asking for are rocket science – they are simple good practice for any professional sports business. The Trust will campaign for the delivery of the improvements we have outlined in “A Better Wednesday” consistently, whoever owns the club. We will work positively with any owner who will work with us to make Sheffield Wednesday a successful club which is in touch with its supporters and the local community. “

The Sheffield Wednesday Supporters Trust Fans’ Forum is on Wednesday 11th June at 7.00pm at the Wadsley Bridge WMC. Fans can register to attend for free: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/swfc-fans-forum-tickets-1393077074029?aff=oddtdtcreator
