We have now had confirmation of the Early Bird Season Ticket information for the 2024/25 season. Once again, the release of season tickets comes with a number of questions and challenges for fans.

The Positives

We welcome keeping children's prices low in some areas of the ground and concession prices. This is good to see and utterly crucial in attracting and maintaining the support of a new generation.

The fact tickets did not go on sale as planned before Christmas is something we would like to see continue.

We also understand that the club is not immune to the inflationary pressures everyone feels now.

The Timing Challenge

There are two key issues to discuss here: the duration of the sales window and the team's position in the league.

Each phase of the sales represents under two weeks and there are reasonable jumps in prices. This is not enough time for fans to organise the funds needed for a significant purchase. A purchase that is often heavily emotional and will put people under pressure to secure the best prices.

We also find it very challenging to work out how these prices can be set when the club cannot reasonably say what division the team will be playing in next season.

A Reflection of Club's Finances?

The short duration of each sales phase prompts questions about the fiscal health of the club. The sudden drive to secure season ticket sales might indicate underlying financial pressures. We have to consider the lack of investment in the playing squad and infrastructure and recent statements by the chairman himself as other indicators.

Transparency is paramount in these instances. We were told by the chairman himself that paying top prices is the only way to see the team improve on the pitch. The fans are meeting their obligations here, but is the club?

Our Stance

It is imperative that we confront these concerns directly. We will communicate with the club to gain insight into the rationale behind the Early Bird pricing and the constrained timeframe. Our primary aim is to safeguard the interests and financial stability of the fan base, ensuring that these crucial decisions are not made in isolation from those who breathe life into the club – the fans.

Moving Forward

We advocate for a constructive and open dialogue within our community. We must collectively express our perspectives, apprehensions, and suggestions. Your input is invaluable in guiding our initiatives and actions.

We urge the club to reconsider the terms of the Early Bird offer, extending the purchasing windows to provide a fair and feasible opportunity for all supporters
