Supporting Sheffield Wednesday is part of who we are. But football is not always easy, and neither is life. If what is happening with Wednesday, or life outside football, is starting to feel too much, you are not on your own.
This page is here to offer support, guidance, and information. Whether you want to read through some resources, talk to someone, or seek professional help, there are options available.
Because we’re #OwlinThisTogether
When things feel tough- Being a Wednesdayite can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially during uncertain times. Many of us will recognise these feelings:
Fear of the unknown - Rumours, uncertainty and waiting for news can feel powerless and draining. Not knowing what comes next can weigh heavy. Talking it through with friends, family or a professional can help.
Not feeling in control - We care deeply, but we cannot control what happens behind the scenes. Feeling stuck, angry or helpless is natural. If these feelings start to affect your day-to-day life, it might be time to reach out.
Feeling overwhelmed - When every headline and conversation seems to be about the same thing, it can take over your thoughts. Scrolling for updates and checking social media can become a cycle that leaves you wound up. If it starts to affect your sleep, relationships, or enjoyment of other parts of life, that is a good moment to talk.
When to seek professional help
If how you are feeling, or the thoughts you are having, begin to impact your daily life, such as stopping you doing things you used to enjoy or preventing you from sleeping, it may be most helpful to talk to a professional.
You can book an appointment yourself at Sheffield Talking Therapies.
If you live outside Sheffield, search “[your town/city] NHS talking therapies” or “IAPT” and the same service will be available locally. You can also speak with your GP for advice.
